As I sat in the comfy seat and enjoyed my manicure, my peace was disrupted by a woman speaking loudly into her cell phone.

She complained about the awful date she had the previous night. The gory details were revealed for all the patrons to hear.

Who the heck cares? We take time out of our busy day for an hour of relaxation and pampering, and this is what we must tolerate?

Several women tsked and tutted, while others sneered at her to no avail. The kind owners and employees were too shy to speak up.

Essential Cell Phone Etiquette Tips

  1. Calling someone after they text you. If they wanted to talk, they wouldn't have texted. Follow their lead and return the text.
  2. Leaving a voicemail. I know some of us of a certain age still do that. Yet, the receiver of your call doesn't want to listen to your ums and uhs before you've made your point. Better to text your message instead. Yes, a voice message may be the way to go for the older crowd, but for others, leaving a text is the most efficient way to communicate; keep it brief and to the point.
