Don't take the health of your brain for granted.
A loved one is in the beginning stages of cognitive decline. Bob is three years in, and we can still have an intelligent conversation, although he won't remember it tomorrow.
My best friend is fully into dementia and is in a care facility. Besides her mind, her looks have changed considerably. Susie's eyes appear vacant, and her behavior is almost childlike.
Both of them are my age. Suffice it to say I'm well into the Third Third of my life.
