I Don't Love That Flying Alcohol-Free is Now History — Do You?

Covid is still around, booze is back, and people are flying again.

I often fly between Phoenix and San Francisco, and yesterday I did just that. I arrived at Sky Harbor airport around 8 a.m.

Drinking before boarding a flight

I noticed quite a few people enjoying(?) cocktails at the bar. Yes, that wasn't a typo — it was 8 in the morning.

Were they nervous passengers bolstering up for a flight that caused them anxiety?

Or perhaps, a celebratory drink for a long-awaited and much-needed vacation?

I don't care if you're about to depart for Tahiti — 8 a.m. is still too early for alcohol.

Even during my hey-days of imbibing, I wouldn't indulge that early. Oops, judging, aren't I?

I guess I find it scary and also sad that anyone — for any reason, would be drinking that early in the day.

A cappuccino and croissant was my indulgence that morning.

I feel so lucky that I could leave the drink behind, finally free of that addiction.

The return of alcohol onboard
