I Love How a Pickleball Game Compares to Our Everyday Life
Where would we be if we didn’t have the comfort and backing of our friends?
My friends and I were playing a friendly game of pickleball. Yes, we’re competitive and play to win, of course, yet camaraderie and ribbing are a large part of the fun.
A few minutes into play, I hit the ball out of bounds. Then another and another. What was going on? What happened to the relaxed games I planned on playing?
Suddenly, my confidence took a deep dive, and the next thing I realized was, I couldn’t even deliver a proper serve. My serves are usually one of my more certain shots.
I felt like a fool — what happened to my usually decent game?
As in pickleball — errors and slipups occur in our lives if we are engaging fully in living. What is the point in being alive if we are not wholly in the game?
Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself. — Charlie Chaplin.
Kindness of friends
My friend, Julie, reminded me that I know how to do this — and it’s one point at a time. I agreed. However, my performance did not improve.
