I Love the Unexpected Gifts of Having a Writing Partner

I knew she would help me become a better writer, but I didn’t foresee the added benefits.

Isn’t it grand sitting alone at your desk writing away happily? I loved it. I tend to be more of a solitary person rather than an extrovert.

Though I love people, I adore my friends and family.

I was delighted writing solo when Meg approached me, suggesting we become writing partners.

Every week for two years, I published a post on my blog Strong55plus.blogspot.com.

Meg was impressed. She felt if I had the perseverance to publish weekly for that long, I might be the one to help her over her writer’s block.

I was astonished. And scared. Meg was a retired creative writing professor at Johns Hopkins University.

Besides my blog and my journal, I had zip experience at writing. What value could I be to her?

Still, she insisted, and off we were to weekly phone critiques.

What I learned

Meg taught me how to use metaphors and similes. That verbs are the workhorses of sentences.
