Saying a Temporary Goodbye to Medium — Sometimes Life Forces Us to Slow Down

I won’t be writing for a while, but I will continue reading all the wonderful articles here.

Cortisone shots worked for a while. As did gel injections.

Finally, I had to face the music — there’s no way around it unless I wanted to continue living with pain.

A shoulder replacement was necessary.

Why me? Why now when life is so full and busy?

Why not? Is the answer, my higher self replied.

Life is forcing me to slow down.

September 4, I will be arriving at my local hospital at 5:30 a.m.! I’ll be the first in the operating room.

It’s a two-hour surgery, and I’ll emerge with a new shoulder.

I asked what they do with the old one. They laughed. I guess I don’t need to know.

I’ll be six weeks in a hard sling. There is no way I can type with that contraption on.

Well…maybe I can figure something out. We’ll see.

It’ll be two months before they let me play pickleball — my favorite sport. Maybe I can finagle around that one, too.

Either way, I’ll miss writing and pickling. It’s become a way of life. Pickleball in the morning. Writing in the afternoon.

Now that I think of it, I could use the rest.

Hmm…lying around in bed all day. Wow. I haven’t done that since I was six months old.

You keep writing, and I’ll keep reading.

Thanks for reading, and keep the light on for me.
