She was raped at age 15, got pregnant, and had an abortion. This devastating dark time led her to become an alcoholic and crack cocaine addict.

She recovered, relapsed several times, and ended up on the street for five weeks with her two young daughters.

The Department of Children and Family staff took custody of the girls.

This was the moment Stephanie Bowman knew she’d hit rock bottom and could change. For the first time in over five weeks, she knew there was hope for her.

She looked up and said ‘thank you.’

Stephanie entered a treatment center with nothing. Not her children, not a dime, only the hope she would be saved.

There were 23 other women, each with a different story but all with the same feeling of being broken.

She worked hard, got clean and sober, regained custody of her children, and began working for charities that focused on helping women in dire situations.
