This is great advice, Tim. Thanks for sharing your experience. When I was in retail (women's clothing) I was a top salesperson but not because I was great at sales. I was great at listening to what women wanted. I'm not interested in selling a course, book or anything online. I write because I enjoy it--sometimes. When I'm not having fun writing, I take a break. Good for you for telling your truth.
