What Will Entertaining Look Like Now that Covid is Almost Over?

Now that restrictions are easing up, are you ready to party?

The cocktails are icy, the hors d’oeuvres hot, the dinner table embellished, and guests are arriving. And I’m ready for a lovely evening — in my pre-Covid days.

There was a time I enjoyed having friends, usually three to four couples, over for dinner. I relished the entire process: planning the food, inviting the guests, deciding on the table setting and choosing what to wear.

My husband’s heritage is half Irish. One of the ways he enjoys entertaining friends is with a St. Patrick’s Day dinner of corned beef and cabbage, boiled potatoes, followed by my homemade cheesecake topped with fresh glazed strawberries.

However, the past two years, our usual group could not attend due to Covid, so we had quiet celebrations just the two of us.

Another big party we have annually is Christmas Eve. I had hosted a dinner for as long as I can remember — long before Bill and I were together. This past Christmas, we stayed in Arizona rather than traveling to California, where we usually spend the holidays, again due to Covid. And again, it was just the two of us for our celebration.
